How are you doing? I hope that you are taking some time to enjoy the lazy days of summer. Well, I know we are all busy but I hope that you are taking some time to have some lazy summer time! However, there are perils to being outside. When we spend time in hot weather and end up with symptoms because of it, that’s what we call Summerheat Evil in Chinese medicine. Summerheat evil is very powerful – it can have really strong effects on your body and health. Understand it more and you can enjoy more parties with less body backlash. Learn how to party proper in the summer heat!
If you’re out there enjoying the outdoors and you notice the sun’s getting to you, it can show in a variety of symptoms. Most notably, headache, maybe dizziness, or perhaps slight disorientation. You probably want a cold drink or maybe even a cold shower. In extreme instances you may feel heat stroke. That’s definitely a noticeable effect of being in too much sun! But, to a lesser degree your body can be effected by too much fun in the sun. When you’re out there, pay attention to your symptoms so that you don’t have to pay the price for being outside too much!
Summerheat evil happens when the hot weather causes symptoms in our body. I’m sure you’re noticed that more time in the hot sun can cause your body to complain. While we do need vitamin D and to socialize with our friends and family, it’s important to monitor your body so that you preserve your health. I’m not saying to avoid the sun, personally I love the sun! But it can quickly cause problems if you’re in the sun and heat. So how can you party proper?
1 Stay Hydrated. While I know some people are really into beer, I prefer to stay with water. Alternate your drinks so that every other drink is water, or iced tea, or lemonade. Or a half and half (iced tea-lemonade). Iced tea, especially green, and lemonade both have the ability to gently clear heat from the body. They can help balance if you’re outside in the heat.
2 Seek Shade. I love the sunshine too but it gets hot fast in the sun! Be sure to alternate between sunny spots and shady spots. The thing about playing sports outside is that it’s usually in the sun, so just be aware of your sun to shade ratio and seek a breaks in the shade.
3 Have some Watermelon. There’s our good old standby, watermelon. Remember that it’s generally easy to find at an even this time of year, so it’s not a bad idea generally to have a slice or two before you feel warm, especially if you know you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the sun the rest of the day.
Are you ready to party proper now? With these strategies, you can have fun without suffering too many consequences. Don’t let summer heat get the best of you!
