Do you need more energy? How is your energy level?
Have you had a busy holiday season? Personally, I did a lot of going here and there, whether it was to visit other people or to buy food or gifts in anticipation of guests, it’s been a pretty busy past few weeks. I really enjoy this particular time of year – the time in between December 25 and January 1, because the community energy shifts – it goes from one of bustle and busy and anticipation, to one of rest and recovery.
Why would I enjoy that??? Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy seeing family and friends and spending time with them and catching up – but it can be exhausting! And it’s really easy to get caught up in keeping up with what everyone else is doing – decorating, gift giving, card making- whatever! At some point for a lot of people – it tips the scale from fun and enjoyable to – being an obligation and a burden. We think that what we could use is more energy…
So, I personally really work on that balance. I like to keep a free weekend day every two weeks to just hang out with the kids and do simple things like go to the park and let them draw and play with toys. If I didn’t have young kids I would probably do some acrylic painting and read a book. Rest and free unstructured time is really important for kids, and I think it’s really important for grown ups, too.
So have you gotten some rest this week? Could you book some in? Yes, I usually block it off on the calendar, because otherwise things get written in there. If you look outside at nature, it’s REST time! Trees have lost their leaves, turtles and bears are hibernating. It’s THAT time of year.
So please give yourself some time and space for rest! And if you are not resting well, acupuncture can help with that! This is the time of the year that you are recharging for the rest of 2017, so please make that count. Give yourself that gift now, and perhaps for the next few Winter months! It will work to ensure that you’ve got good energy to work with in 2017. Give me a call at (650) 588-0888 if you would like some help with that! Next year is the year of the Fire Rooster, you’ll need it! Ask me if you have any questions below. 🙂
Wishing you a restful holiday,
